Safety And Licensing Committee Meeting 04/23/2025 – Will Vote On Request From Police Department To Deny Bartender License To Applicant With Battery Conviction

The Safety and Licensing Committee is meeting 04/23/2025 at 5:30PM.

They will be electing a Vice-Chair and doing some other housekeeping items related to the start of the new Council year.

They will also be voting on two alcohol license change of agent applications and two temporary alcohol license applications.

Additionally, they will be voting on a request from the Police Department to deny an operator/bartender license application. The applicant was recently convicted of Battery. Wisconsin State Statue 125.04(5)(a)1 states that licenses related to alcohol beverages may be issued only to persons who fulfill all of the following requirements, the first requirement of which is “Do not have an arrest or conviction record” subject to certain limitations which do not apply to a battery conviction. As a result, per the memo from the Police Department, the applicant “does not meet the requirement of Wis. Stat 125.04(5)(a)1. A license or permit related to alcohol beverages consequently may not be issued.”
