Common Council Meeting 04/16/2025 – Will Vote On Trout Museum Request To Turn Two College Avenue Parking Stalls Into Loading Zone

The Common Council is meeting 04/16/2025 at 7PM. This will be the first regular meeting of the newly seated Council.

There were only four committee meetings last week and most of the items resulted in minimal discussion.

The one item that did prompt the most feedback from the public as well as the most discussion at committee was the request from the Trout Museum of Art to turn two on-street parking stalls on College Avenue into a loading zone. This request was opposed by a neighboring business owner who was concerned the loss of parking would negatively impact her business. It was noted during the meeting that while the Trout is under construction, there are only two parking stalls on that side of the street, but after construction is completed there will be 8, which will mean that even if 2 are turned into a loading zone, 6 will still remain. The Municipal Services Committee ended up recommending approval of the loading zone for a 6-month trial period to begin upon completion of construction.

The only other items that stand out to me as ones that might possibly be separated out for individual votes are the alcohol license change of agent application for Tandem Wine and Beer and the alcohol license application for Jai Sung Mah Pool Club. Each of these applications were recommended for denial. I would only expect them to be separated out for individual votes if the applicants attended the Council meeting.
