Library Board Meeting 04/15/2025 – Will Vote On Update To Library’s Financial Policy, Receive Information On Reduction Of The Institute Of Museum And Library Services

The Library Board will be meeting 04/15/2025 at 5PM.

They will be voting on the March Bill Register, a budget amendment, the 2024-2025 Library budget carryover request, and an update to the library’s financial policy.

They also have a number of reports and updates that they will be receiving as information items that include an updates on the new building, community partnerships, children’s programs, and hiring.

The report possibly of most interest to the public is the one on the elimination of the Institute of Museum and Library Services. President Trump’s “Continuing the Reduction of the Federal Bureaucracy” Executive Order directs the elimination of all of the institute’s non-statutory components and functions and the reduction of its workforce to the minimum number of personnel required to perform its statutory functions. Nation-wide, multiple grants through IMLS have been terminated and the reduction of IMLS and the termination of grants are now the subject of a court case. I guess we will find out on Tuesday if any of this impacts the Appleton library.
