Parks And Recreation Committee Meeting 03/10/2025 – Will Vote On Resolution Changing City’s Emissions Reduction Target, Selfie Sculpture, Renewal Of Bird City Designation

The Parks and Recreation Committee is meeting 03/10/2025 at 6:15PM.

They have three items on their agenda.

The first is Resolution 2-R-25 regarding the city’s carbon emissions reduction target. Currently, Appleton has a target of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 or earlier. This resolution if passed as written would update the city’s emissions target to reduce net emissions by 50% by 2034 and maintain as “aspirational stretch goal” of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 “contingent upon our electrical utility supplier meeting its Scope II target.”

They will also be voting on a request from Creative Downtown Inc to install a selfie sculpture in Houdini Plaza. This item was already recommended for approval by the Appleton Public Arts Committee.

Finally, they will be voting on a request to adopt a resolution renewing Appleton’s “Bird City” designation.
