Finance Committee Meeting 10/21/2024 – Will Vote On Request To Obligate Almost $1 Million In ARPA Funds For Consulting Services And Revitalization Projects Pertaining To Expo Center

The Finance Committee is meeting 10/21/2024 at 5:30PM.

They will be voting on a request to obligate $985,000 in American Recovery Plan Act funds to the Fox City’s Exhibition Center Repositioning and Tourism Recovery Project. The Expo Center has struggled since opening in 2018 because of Covid and the fact that the facility lacks features that such as carpeting and acoustical improvements. Additionally, the management agreement for the Expo Center expires 12/31/2025.

The city would like to install carpeting and make other miscellaneous improvements and also hire a consultant to help them develop a strategy to negotiate the development of a new management agreement.

[I look forward to hearing staff and local elected leaders explain to the public how the Expo Center project was not a complete and total boondoggle and how the lack of basic amenities like carpets is not a sign of massive failure.]

There are also three requests for sole source contracts pertaining to the wastewater treatment plant. One is for the transportation of biosolids, one is for the purchase of a plunger pump, and one is a for a lift station replacement.

As information items, the committee will be discussing the 2025 budgets for Facilities Management, Finance, Legal Services, and Risk Management.
