Utilities Committee Meeting 09/24/2024 – Will Receive Final Update On Polymer Incident, Vote On Increase To Stormwater Management Plan Review Contract

The Utilities Committee is meeting 09/24/2024 at 4:30PM.

They have one action item on the agenda which is a request to approve an amendment to the 2024A stormwater management plan review contract with Brown and Caldwell which will increase the contract by $38,000 for a total not to exceed $113,000. The city currently has a $75,000 stormwater review plan, but given the number of plans expected to be submitted later in 2024 they expect to run out of that. The work under the contract is charged on an hourly basis and so will only be used if needed.

They will also be receiving three information items.

The first is the final update on the Wastewater Treatment Plant Polymer Incident. This has been on the agenda for multiple meetings and will hopefully now finally happen.

Additionally, the City of Appleton has been voted the Wisconsin’s 2024 Best Tap Water Taste Test Winner which opens up the opportunity to compete on the national level in 2024.

Finally, they will be reviewing the July and August water main break reports. As of the end of August, the city has identified 33 water main breaks or leaks as compared to 43 by the end of August in 2023.
