Board Of Health Meeting 02/14/2024 – Will Vote On Electronic Health System Recommendation, Review Dangerous Animal Declaration

The Board of Health is meeting 02/14/2024 at 7AM.

They have two action items on the agenda.

The first is a recommendation for an electronic health record system vendor for the city’s Health Department. Health Officer Charles Sepers is recommending the city go with CHAMP Software. That recommendation is “based on a thorough evaluation of various potential vendors, considering factors such as functionality, user-friendliness, cost-effectiveness, and support services.” The cost of moving to this system away from the city’s current paper record system will include a one-time training and implementation fee of $5,500 as well as an annual subscription of $,371.

The board will also be voting on a request to apply for and accept a $4,000 Wisconsin Bureau of Transportation Safety (BOTS) grant. These funds would be used to “enhance child passenger safety within our community.”

The board will also receive a number of information items including a presentation from Beth Clay, the Executive Director of NEW Mental Health Connections, the Health Department’s 2023 4th quarter report, the January Respiratory Virus Surveillance Report, and a dangerous animal declaration.

Regarding the dangerous animal declaration, a male pit bull named Tony bit a family members in the face in an unprovoked attack. It also lunged at a 2-year-old, causing bruises to the child’s face.
