Finance Committee Meeting 01/08/2024 – Will Vote On $186,000 Library Signage Package, Request To Write Off $90,000 In Unpaid Bills And Property Taxes

The Finance Committee is meeting 01/08/2024 at 5:30PM.

They have a lot of items on their agenda, but I don’t know how many will prompt discussion versus just being routine contract items that get approved with minimal questions.

There is a request to approve the write off of nearly $75,000 of accounts receivable invoices and $17,000 of personal property taxes which have been outstanding for one year. [As a note: it was explained during a meeting in 2021 that the city will continue to try to collect on these bills and writing them off is mainly an accounting action that needs to be taken ahead of the annual audit.]

One contract before the committee is for $186,000 for interior and exterior specialty signage at the library. The memo does not give any indication as to how many signs this would include or exactly what the signage package entails.

There are a few contracts for work at the Appleton Wastewater Treatment Plant, a change order for a redundant raw water line contract, an award for sewer, water, grade, gravel, and bridge construction for work on Lightning Drive, and a request to award a sole source contract for furniture upgrades at the Municipal Services Building.

Finally, as information items, there is a fairly long list of updates regarding various contract payments and awards.
