The City Plan Commission is meeting 09/13/2023 at 3:30PM.
They will be taking up for the second time the request to rezone vacant land near the Clearwater Creek subdivision from AG Agricultural District to R-1B Single-Family District and the request to then divide this land into 14 single-family lots add them to the Clearwater Creek subdivision. This proposal has resulted in opposition from over 80 residents in the Clearwater Creek community who are concerned about increased traffic congestion, slow response times from emergency services, the loss of what is currently wilderness area when the area does not have any official parkland, and the impact that building new construction on wetland would have on water runoff for the rest of the subdivision. The item was referred back to the committee for further review by Alderperson Patrick Hayden (District 7) at the Common Council meeting on 09/06/2023.
The commission will also be voting on proposed text amendment to Chapter 23 Zoning Ordinance of the Municipal Code. These changes were reviewed as an information item at the 08/23/2023 commission meeting. At the time, the commission expressed a desire to move forward with the changes, so the proposed ordinance changes are now being brought before the commission as an action item.
The commission will be voting on a request to approve the Downtown Appleton Business Improvement District’s 2024 Operating Plan. This item has critical timing.
Finally, the commission will be voting on a Special Use Permit for a restaurant with alcohol sales and consumption, and the rezoning of a property from a general commercial district to a R-1B single-family district.
