The Appleton Area School District Board of Education is meeting 04/10/2023 at 6PM.
They will be voting on revisions to the employee handbook pertaining to educator semester retirements. The District wants to move to a policy in which retiring educators will only be eligible for post-retirement benefits if they submit their letter of retirement by the middle of February. They would now, however, like to add additional language allowing for letters of retirement to be submitted after that date in limited circumstances “in the event of a significant medical situation where the employee is unable to work. Such exceptions will only be granted in very unusual circumstances limited to a case by case basis.”
The Board will also be receiving a report on the Fox River Academy contract, summer school courses for 2023, and the District’s policy regarding the Administration of Drug Products/Medications To Students.
They will also be voting to approve a number of Educator and Administrative hires, some Educator contract changes, and two Administrative Resignations including the resignation of Matthew Zimmerman who most recently served on the Leadership Team as the Assistant Superintendent of School Services.
