Finance Committee Meeting 07/11/2022 – Will Receive Presentation On 2021 Audit, Review City’s Fuel Costs

The Finance Committee is meeting 07/11/2022 at 5:30PM.

They will be receiving a presentation from CliftonLarsonAllen, LLP of the city’s 2021 Audit and Executive Summary.

They will also be voting on a number of action items including a new walk-in freezer at Reid Golf Course for $31,733.35, a sludge storage building additional construction project for $6.1 million, some budget amendments, and a contract amendment for sidewalk construction that will increase the contract by $50,000.

There are also a number of information items, one of which pertains to 2022 fuel costs. Due to the high price of fuel, fuel purchases for the first six months of 2022 accounted for 65% of the total budgeted amount for the year. So, essentially, the money the city thought would buy 8 months of fuel has only bought 6 months of fuel. Per the memo, “Normally, Finance staff will review actual costs compared to budget for the business unit as a whole to determine if reserve amounts need to be allocated. With the current trends, staff will monitor costs throughout the year and determine if action is needed sooner.”
