Safety And Licensing Committee Holds Taxicab Driver Application Until Next Meeting To Give Police More Time To Contact Applicant

The Safety and Licensing committee met 06/22/2022. It was a brief meeting, clocking in at under 10 minutes.

I had been hoping that there might be an interesting discussion regarding the taxicab drivers license application, because it looked like Torrey, the applicant, had a somewhat checkered past that could potentially warrant not approving the license.

That discussion may still happen, but the committee, at the request of the Police Department, voted to hold the application until the next meeting. Police Lieutenant Nagel who was performing the background check had attempted to make contact with the applicant on three separate occasions but had not been able to do so. He wanted to try a few more times before the next committee meeting.

[It doesn’t sound to me like Torrey’s prospects of getting the license are looking too good, but perhaps we will be surprised.]
