City Plan Commission Meeting 08/27/2025 – Will Vote On Dedication Of Johnston Street As A Public Right Of Way, Review Proposed Updates To Municipal Code Governing Temporary Structures And Shoreline Zoning, Review Draft Of Updates To City’s Comprehensive Plan

The City Plan Commission is meeting 08/27/2025 at 3:30PM.

They have two action items on the agenda.

The first is a request to approve the acceptance of a dedication of a portion of W Johnston Street, which is currently part of the privately own lot at 200 W College Avenue, as a public right of way. The basement of the building at 200 W College Avenue (formerly the Chase Bank building) encroaches underneath Johnston Street so, the change to public ownership of the street above, has resulted in the property owner needing applied for a permanent street occupancy permit which will be reviewed and voted on by the Municipal Services Committee.

They will also be voting on the annual Downtown Appleton Business Improvement District 2026 Operating Plan.

As information items, they will be reviewing proposed changes to two section of Chapter 23 of the Municipal Code. Those changes pertain to the section on Temporary Uses and Structure and to the section on shoreland zoning.

Finally, they will be reviewing the draft of the update to the city’s Comprehensive Plan. The draft plan is posted at www.planappleton.org for the public to review. The City Plan Commission will be holding a public hearing on the plan updates on 10/08/2025 with adoption of the plan to follow.
