Board Of Education Meeting 08/25/2025 – Will Continue Discussion On Potential Referendum To Deal With District’s $15 Million Structural Deficit

The Appleton Area School District Board of Education is meeting 08/25/2025 at 6PM.

They will be holding another discussion on how to deal with the District’s structural budget deficit that could be as much as $15 million. This is a continuation of a series of ongoing discussions, one that took place on 05/12/2025, one that took place on 06/09/2025, one that took place on 06/23/2025, and one that took place on 07/14/2025.

Per the agenda material, it appears that 4 of the Board’s 7 members are in favor of making no cuts and pursuing a referendum to cover the cost of the District’s structural deficit plus normal operational increases, 1 of the Board’s members is in favor of using a referendum to cover not only 100% of the deficit and normal operational increases but service expansions even beyond that, while only 2 of the Board’s 7 members are in favor of trying to make cuts while also pursuing a referendum to cover 80% of the deficit.

They will also be reviewing the Academic and Career Planning Yearly Report.

As action items, they will be voting on the purchase of 10th Grade World History materials.

They will also be voting on revisions to monitoring reports pertaining to instructional programing.
