The Common Council is meeting 08/06/2025 at 7PM.
None of the action items on the agenda prompted much discussion at the committee level, so it’s hard to tell what might be separated out for an individual vote.
Possibly the most notable item is the recommendation by the Finance Committee to approve the $33.4 million debt issuance to fund city projects and refinance existing debt. In a change from how city debt was handled in previous years, the Finance Committee approved parameter resolutions that would grant the authority to finalize the debt to delegated city officials. This means the debt could be issued outside of a Common Council meeting without any further approval from the Council and will allow the city greater flexibility in the timing of when the bonds are issued, avoiding going to market on days when there are negative economic announcements or other things that negatively impact rates.
I would also expect Alderperson Alex Schultz (District 9) to separate out the full service retail outlet request from McFleshman’s to provide alcohol sales and service at the Farmer’s Market, not because the request is controversial but so that he can abstain from voting due to his personal connection to the business.
