The Common Council is meeting 06/18/2025 at 7PM.
Right now there are no mayoral proclamations listed or any other business to be presented by the mayor.
I would expect that the main item up for discussion by the Common Council will be Resolution 4-R-25 which calls for Appleton Memorial Park to be renamed Veterans Memorial Park. The resolution initially called for the park to be renamed “Veteran’s Memorial Park.” The Parks and Recreation Committee amended it to remove the apostrophe so that the name would be “Veterans Memorial Park.”
The committee ended up by only a narrow 3-2 vote recommending that the resolution be approved. Part of the resolution calls for the city to create a plan to relocate select existing memorials within the city to the park and to develop a plan to add memorials that do not currently exist for recent conflicts. There was some concern about what the cost of that would be and what exactly such a plan would envision.
