The Common Council is meeting 06/04/2025 at 7PM.
Only a few committees met last week and those that did were fairly short, so there are not a lot of action items on the agenda, much less items that warrant being separated out for individual votes.
There are two items that stand out to me as most likely to be separated out for individual votes. The first is the approval of the special event permit for the Summer Shootout soccer tournament scheduled for June 20-22. This event has been taking place annually for over 30 years and brings hundreds of soccer players and their families to the area and local hotels. The event organizers were a few days late in submitting their application for a special event permit but the Safety and Licensing Committee voted unanimously to recommend the permit be approved in spite of the deadline having been missed. While this item is not controversial and almost certain to be approved by the Common Council, I could see it being separated out for a standalone vote as a way to highlight that the event is taking place and the Council is supportive of it.

The second item that seems most likely to be separated out for an individual vote is the request by the Police Department for the city to not renew the alcohol license for Tandem Wine and Beer. The Safety and Licensing Committee will be holding a special meeting at 6PM prior to the Common Council meeting to deliberate on this request. The owner of the establishment has recently been convicted of driving with a prohibited alcohol content level (3rd offense) and also had a charge of possession of cocaine read into the record.
