The Common Council is meeting 05/21/2025 at 7PM.
They will be taking up the request to take $107,000 left over from a 2024 park pavilion roofing project and spend it on hiring a consultant to create a climate action plan for the city. This item had been on the agenda for the 05/07/2025 Council meeting but was held until this meeting because four alderpersons were excused from that previous meeting and, regardless of how the remaining members voted, any of the excused alderpersons could have requested the item be taken up again at the 05/20/2025 meeting.
Other than that it’s difficult to pick out any other items that might be separated out for individual votes as none of the discussions on the items before the various committees that met last week were drawn out or contentious. However, I could see the request to update park rules to prohibit alcoholic beverages within 20 feet of playgrounds and pavilions being separated out, not because it is a contentious issue but as a way to highlight for the public the fact that this change (if approved by the Council) is taking place.
