The Appleton Area School District Board of Education is meeting 03/31/2025 at 6PM.
They will be receiving an update on the District’s 5-Year Facilities Capital Improvement Plan.
They will also be voting on a request to authorize the issuance and sale of $25 million in General Obligation Promissory Notes associated with the 2022 referendum.

They will be voting on updates to two policies—Policy 151 regarding Adoption, Revision, Maintenance, and Dissemination of Board Policies and Policy 154 regarding School Board Advocacy. These changes were each prompted by a comprehensive audit of AASD’s policies perform by the Wisconsin Association of School Boards.
The Board will be voting on a request to accept the recent operational expectation monitory report regarding asset protection. The report finds the District compliant with one exception. Currently there is an expectation that “Disaster recovery and network penetration testing will be performed annually. A summary report of tests showing that no security concerns were found will be made available to the Board upon request.” Per an explanation of why the District is not in compliance with that requirement, “Because of the ever-evolving nature of cybersecurity, we do not believe we will ever have a report that shows ‘no security concerns’. The recommendation is to change the language of the indicator 7.4.3 to say ‘A summary report of all Cybersecurity Audits will be made available to the Board upon request’.”

Of note, AASD will be moving away from using the BoardDocs to handle their meetings and will be moving to a new platform called Granicus Peak which will provide live meeting videos, agendas, and meeting minutes all in one location. The 03/31/2025 Board meeting will be the final one using Board Docs.
