The Municipal Services Committee is meeting 02/10/2025 at 4:30PM.
They have multiple ordinance changes updating things like parking and intersection controls for various streets that are either new subdivisions or have undergone reconstruction recently. Additionally, one of these ordinance changes is related to an agreement approved by the Common Council in October of 2024 allowing Prevea to purchase two on-street parking stalls on the 100 block of W Washington Street.
They will also be voting on a sole source purchase of decorative streetlight poles for the College Avenue Bridge for $88,592 plus shipping. The existing poles which were installed in 2009 “have experienced significant rusting, resulting in reduced structural integrity and staining of the concrete bridge walls.” The sole source purchase will facilitate consistency with the current lights.
They will be voting on a request to increase by $8,500 the amount for the 2025 repair and maintenance contract for the Red, Green, and Yellow parking garages. This increase will help pay for design services related to the installation and electrical distribution for an electrical vehicle charging station in the lower level of the Yellow Garage which is related to the proposed purchase of an electric vehicle by the city which the Finance Committee discussed and voted on in January.
Finally, they will be voting on the Public Works fee schedule for 2025. If approved as presented, the changes would include increases ranging from $0.05 to $0.15 a week for garbage containers.
