Common Council Meeting 11/20/2024 – Will Vote On $300,000 Stormwater Evaluation Contract Covering Area Impacted By July Flooding, New Fare Collection System For Valley Transit

The Common Council is meeting 11/20/2024 at 7PM.

There are two items on the agenda that stand out as possible candidates to be separated out for individual votes.

The first is the request to approve a $300,000 single-source contract with Brown and Caldwell to perform a stormwater evaluation on the Northland Creek and Bellaire Watersheds.

Although the item itself is not controversial and was supported by the public and recommended for approval unanimously by the Utilities Committee, the item did generate a lot feedback during the committee meeting from members of the public whose homes were severely impacted by flooding in July of this year. I would expect at least some of those Appleton residents to attend the Council meeting and speak on the item again.

The second is the request to install the WisGo Fare Collection System on Valley Transit buses. This item was approved unanimously by the Transit Commission, and, although not controversial, it would not surprise me if it was separated out for an individual vote as a way of highlight that this change will be implemented in 2025.
