The Library Board is meeting 11/19/2024 at 4:30PM.
They will be voting on a request to update the APL Naming Opportunities Policy.
They will also be voting on a request to approve two limited term, part-time internship positions funded by external grants. The Community Partnerships Intern is “for individuals interested in learning more about community-engaged librarianship through hands-on practice in a dynamic public library.” It would be funded by a Libraries in Bloom grant of $2,320.
An internship opportunity for a teenager “to learn about work in libraries and explore pathways for continued civic engagement and future career development,” would be paid by a grant from the Friends of Appleton Public Library of $2,040.
The board will also be voting on a request to award the contract to move the library from the temporary location to its final location in the newly completed library building downtown to Boulevard Relocation Services in an amount of $175,855.80 with a 5% contingency. The library has used BRS for its two previous moves.
Additionally, the board will be voting on library closure dates for 2025 and voting on the report of the Personnel and Policy Committee which recently voted on three policies pertaining to the library.
As information items, the board will be receiving updates on the building project, the most recent hiring process, the children’s program, and community partnerships. The will also be informed about the change of address for the downtown library. Currently, their address is 225 N Oneida Street, but that will be changed to 200 N Appleton Street.
They will also be receiving the 2024 3rd quarter report for the library.
