The Municipal Services Committee is meeting 06/24/2024 at 4:30PM.
They will be voting on a street occupancy permit for the Rise apartment development. The building is built up directly to the lot line. They would like to install a front door that swings outward onto the sidewalk. As a result, they need a public occupancy permit because the door, when opened will overhand the sidewalk.
They will also be voting on a request to extend the street occupancy permit for the Fox Commons development project through August 15. It had been slated to end 07/01/2024.
They will also be voting on two items that were held from the previous meeting.
The first is a request to approve a street occupancy permit so that the Lil Taco restaurant on State Street near to College Avenue can place picnic tables on the street outside the restaurant. The area the restaurant is located is a known problem area at bar close, and Alderperson William Siebers (District 1) was concerned if tables were left out overnight, they would attract problem individuals. At the 06/10/2024 meeting, the committee voted to hold the item for two weeks in order to provide an opportunity for police to provide feedback and for staff to research whether it would be possible to require the restaurant to bring the tables inside every night as a requirement of the permit.
The committee will also be voting on the resolution to rescind No Mow May ordinance language from the city’s Municipal Code. The meeting on 06/10/2024 ran long, so the committee voted to hold this resolution until 06/24/2024 in order to provide adequate time to review and discuss the resolution.
