The Municipal Services Committee is meeting 03/25/2024 at 4:30PM.
They will be voting on the request to require street vendors in the Central Business District to close at midnight instead of 4AM as a way to reduce gatherings at and around bar close time—gatherings that can result in fights and safety issues. The committee discussed this during the 03/11/2024 meeting during which committee members expressed hesitancy to approve it and penalize food truck vendors for safety concerns they were not themselves responsible for or promoting. The committee ended up holding the item for 2 weeks to provide time for more discussion to take place between various impacted parties (i.e. the police, city staff, Appleton Downtown Incorporated, and food truck proprietors) so that they could hopefully come back with some sort of action plan in two weeks for the committee to consider.
The committee will also be voting on a request to approve the new Complete Streets policy documents and related documents. The committee received an overview of the new policies and design guides during the 02/12/2024 committee meeting and will now be voting to formally accept and adopt them.
The committee will also be voting to approve roadway design parameters for the Lumbini Estates Subdivision and approve a request to accept grant funds from the WI DOT to replace signal equipment at controlled intersections.
