The Common Council is meeting 03/20/2024 at 7PM.
There is no Business Presented by the Mayor or Public Hearings scheduled.
The two committee items this past week that garnered the most discussion (the resolution regarding overnight, on street parking and the proposed ordinance change that would require food trucks and other on-street vendors to close down at midnight) were both held at committee so will not be coming before the Common Council yet.
The other action items that appeared at committee did not garner much if any discussion, outside of the discussions surrounding the proposed US Venture project at 222 W College Avenue which took place in closed session and was a then held until the special meeting of the Community and Economic Development Committee scheduled for 03/20/2024 prior to the Common Council meeting.
I would expect the development incentive agreement pertaining to the proposed US Ventures redevelopment of 222 W College Avenue to be separated out for an individual vote. The agenda even notes, “The Common Council may go into closed session according to State Statute §19.85(1)(e) for the purposes of deliberating or negotiating the purchasing of public properties and the investing of public funds, regarding the U.S. Venture development project and then reconvene into open session.”
The other action item on the agenda that I would expect to be separated out for an individual vote is the request to reconsider proposed changes to the Glendale and Whitman yard waste site hours of operation. This was voted on at the 03/06/2024 Common Council meeting and failed by a vote of 6-6, and it is understandable that the Council would want to reconsider the item when they hopefully have an odd number of alderpersons in attendance.
