Finance Committee Meeting 02/12/2024 – Will Vote On Request To Reject Bids For Fire Station HVAC Project, Receive Update On ARPA Funds

The Finance Committee is meeting 02/12/2024 at 5:30PM.

They have a lot of action items on the agenda but most of them are requests to award various infrastructure maintenance projects and I wouldn’t expect them to result in a lot of discussion.

There are, however, a few items that stand out.

One is the request to reject bids for the HVAC upgrades project at Fire Stations 1 and 6. The city had budgeted $457,020 for those projects, but the bids both came in over $600,000. Staff is recommending rejecting the bids, reduce the scope of the projects, and then re-bid.

The other items are requests to approve full or partial refunds of personal property taxes paid by 3 Appleton businesses. Two of the businesses inadvertently reported assets that were exempt from assessment and, therefore, paid more taxes than they should have. The third did not have an assets in their Appleton location and should not have been assessed any personal property taxes.

The committee will also be receiving a number of information items including updates on some contracts, a change order, and some budget adjustments as well an update on American Recovery Plan Act funds.
