The Appleton Area School District Board of Education is meeting 09/25/2023 at 6PM.
They will be voting on two Operational Expectations Monitoring Reports—the Treatment of Community Stakeholders report and the Personnel Administration Report. They are compliant in all areas with the Treatment of Community Stakeholders report but are not fully in compliance with the Personnel Administration report.
The Indicators of Compliance for Personnel Administration require all educators and administrators to be appropriately licensed by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. All educators and administrators were appropriately licensed except for one who “was qualified with the appropriate education and had applied for licensure, but did not complete the licensure requirements within DPI’s timeline. The educator is DPI licensed For 2023-2024.”
Another area in which they were not in compliance was in regards to the Employee Engagement Survey. In order to be compliant 70% of employee respondents needed to indicate they felt included in decisions that affect them, but only 64% responded affirmatively to the question “My Building Administration or Department Supervisor provides opportunities for feedback on decisions that affect my job.” However, that percentage was up from the previous three years when it did not crack 60%.
They will also be voting on two Results Policies, one pertaining to student academic achievement and the other pertaining to essential life skills.
Finally, they will be voting on the 2023-24 compensation increase for district administrators and for Superintendent Greg Hartjes. District administrators will see their pay increase by 4% and Superintendent Hartjes would receive $8,000 more in salary and $5,000 more to a Tax-shelter Annuity.
