The Appleton Public Arts Committee is meeting 06/20/2023 at 8:30AM.
The committee will be voting on a request to approve the final design for a proposed Sexual Assault Survivors Monument to be located within Ellen Kort Peace Park. The installation and maintenance of the monument is supposed to all be covered by the Sexual Assault Survivors Monument Corporation Nonprofit. Although the monument should not cost the city anything, it does still need to approve the finale design since it will be going on city property.
[Honestly, I’m not overly impressed with the final design rendering. Since the roof of the gazebo is open, it seems like it won’t provide much shade. And the benches in the rendering look extremely low as well as sloped and don’t seem like they would be comfortable to sit upon. It looks like they took the original concept art and tried to figure out all the ways they could make it weirdly modern and less function.]
