Board Of Education Meeting 04/24/2023 – Will Recite Commitment Pledge, Vote On Fox River Academy Contract Addendum, Update District Drug Administration Policy To Include Naloxone

The Appleton Area School District Board of Education is meeting later today, 04/24/2023, at 6PM.

The Board will be taking care of some organizational items such as electing officers of the board and appointing representatives and delegates to various things. They will also be reciting the Board of Education Member Commitment.

They will be voting on a number of new hires, retirements, resignations, contract changes, and notices of non-renewal.

One new hire they’ll be approving is Ebony Grice to serve as the Assistant Superintendent of School Services.

They’ll also be accepting the resignation of Ryan M Peterson, the principal of Appleton North High School.

The Board will also be voting on a number of non-personnel related items. Those include:

• An addendum to the contract with Fox River Academy removing the requirement that the FRA kindergarten class size not exceed half of a traditional non-Achievement Gap Reduction first grade class size.
• A request for approval of the summer school courses
• An update to the district’s policy regarding the administration of drug products/medication to students. This update would allow district schools to keep naloxone (a medication to be given to someone experiencing an opioid overdose) on hand for emergency administration the way that epinephrin is kept on hand to deal with anaphylaxis.
