The Finance Committee is meeting 04/24/2023 at 5:30PM.
They will be taking care of some housekeeping items associated with the start of the new Council year including electing a vice-chair and electing members to serve on various boards.
There are also 5 non-housing keeping action items.
The committee will be voting on a request to approve the lease of space at Northland Mall by the Parks, Recreation, and facilities Management Department. This space would be used as dance studios to replace the ones currently being leased in City Center.
They will also be voting on a request to approve the acquisition of an additional 1,323 square feet of space in City Center to serve as storage space now that the Blue Ramp no longer exists. The cost would only be $7,753 a year.
The committee is also being requested to approve an agreement with Goodwill for its funding of upgrades to Miracle Field at Memorial Park. The field was built in 2010 and now needs to be upgraded. Renovations include replacing the rubberized playing surface and fencing around the field as well as leveling some of the subsurface. The project is not expected to cost more than $185,650, and Goodwill has secured funding to pay for it so it should not cost Appleton anything.
Finally, the city will be voting on a grant allocation and a request to award $200,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funds to Habitat for Humanity for affordable housing projects.
