Common Council Meeting 02/15/2023 – Will Receive Updates On Trout Museum/Ellen Kort Peace Park Proposal, The 12/26/2022 Polymer Incident At Wastewater Treatment Plant

The Common Council is meeting 02/15/2023 at 7PM.

The committee meetings last week were all pretty tame, so I would not expect any of them to result in long drawn-out discussions in the Council meeting, although some, such as the Legal Services reorganization, may be separated out for individual votes.

Business by the Mayor seems like it will contain the items of most interest to the public.

First and foremost, Mayor Woodford will be giving an update on the status of the Trout Museum’s request to construct a new museum on the grounds of Ellen Kort Peace Park. This was very briefly touched on during the most recent Parks and Recreation Committee meeting when Director of Parks, Recreation, and Facilities Dean Gazza told the committee he had not had any communication with the Trout Museum “I have not had one conversation with one member. Not an email, not a phone call. Not a voice conversation.”

The mayor will also be giving an update on the December 26 Polymer Incident at the Wastewater Treatment Plant. This was discussed at the 01/10/2023 Utilities Committee meeting. At the time, Utilities Director Chris Shaw reported to the committee that on 12/26/2022, 4-5 months’ worth of cationic polymer was dumped into the treatment plant at one time. This was a very unique incident for which there was no literature to provide guidance, and although the treatment plant was up and running again, they were still assessing the long-term impact and damage.
