The Municipal Services Committee is meeting 02/06/2023 at 4:30PM. There are three action items on the agenda.
One is a request from a resident to have her sidewalk snow removal assessment of $118.50 waived. Over the years, numerous requests to waive fees and assessments have come before the committee. I can’t think of one request that has been successful. Will this one be different? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
Another item is a request for a 6-month parking trial which would removed the parking restrictions on the north side of Fifth Street (from Walnut Street to Elm Street) and the south side of Prospect Avenues, east of Sixth Street. Both of these changes were prompted by requests from the alderperson of that area, Kristin Alfheim (District 11) as well as a number of residents.
The other action item on the agenda is a request to approve an agreement between the city and the State of Wisconsin to reconstruct Lawe Street between College Avenue and Wisconsin Avenue. Per the summary in the agenda documents, it looks like, for the most part, 80% of the reconstruction will be paid for with Federal/State funds and the remaining 20% will be covered by the city; however, the total amount of Federal/State funding is limited to $2,793,634, so if the project runs over the estimated cost Appleton will have to pay 100% of the balance.
The committee will also be receiving a number of information items including the inspections division permit summary for January 2023, a review of the 2022 Parking Utility, and status updates on Resolution 10-R-22 (Alternate Lawe Street Truck Route) and the proposed College Avenue Lane Reconfiguration.
