Common Council Votes 8-7 To Move Forward With Discussions About Building New Trout Museum Building In Ellen Kort Peace Park

On 10/05/2022 the Common Council received a presentation from the Trout Museum of Art on their proposal to build a new museum building within Ellen Kort Peace Park. After receiving the presentation, the Common Council voted 8-7 to allow the discussion process to continue.

Discussions will now move to Step 4 of the process which includes a site analysis and project goals.

The site will need to be reviewed in terms of

  • Environmental
  • Stormwater
  • Traffic
  • Sustainability, and
  • Site plan/zoning.

The Trout will also need to provide information on

  • Project goals (with public input)
  • Project funding
  • Project schedule
  • Space projections, and
  • Sustainability goals.

Finally, the Trout will need to receive WE Energies approval for the intended site use because WE Energie’s owns half of the site.
