The saga of Torrey’s taxicab driver license application has come to exactly the end that one would have expected.
The Safety and Licensing Committee has specifically held off on voting on his application in order to give more time to the Police Department to contact him and complete the background check, but in spite of the additional time he never responded to the Police Department’s attempts to contact him, nor did he or a representative appear at the Safety and Licensing Committee meeting on 07/13/2022 when his application would be voted on.
Police Chief Todd Thomas reiterated the main points of the memo that had been submitted to the committee.
Torrey did not return the department’s phone calls or the phone calls from legal services. He had been convicted of failure to take a test of intoxication in May of this year.
He had also been convicted of resisting or obstructing an officer in January of this year. During that incident he had started a bonfire, gave officers a fake name, and was highly intoxicated in a city park.
Additionally, he had been found guilty of felony robbery with threat of force in December of 2019.
None of the committee members had any questions about this and proceeded to vote 4-0 to deny his application for a taxicab driver license.
