Safety And Licensing Committee Meeting 07/13/2022 – Will Vote On A Number Of License Application, Receive 2022 Police Department Mid-Year Budget Report

The Safety and Licensing Committee is meeting 07/13/2022 at 5:30PM.

The action items consist of a number of license applications. None of them seem particularly controversial other than the Taxicab license for Torrey. This application has already been held once to give police additional time to connect with the applicant and complete the background check. Even with that additional time, Torrey did not return the Police Department’s calls. Given Torrey’s checkered background, it seemed unlikely that they would recommend approval of the license and, indeed, Lieutenant Nagel is now recommending that the committee deny the application, citing his record which includes a felony, a misdemeanor, and an OWI as well as Torrey’s lack of cooperation in completing the background check.

The committee will also receive several information items including the 2022 Police Department Mid-Year Budget Report and some updates on a couple grant applications.
