Coronavirus Numbers For 06/26/2022 – 07/02/2022

I have started pulling Covid case and death numbers from the Wisconsin DHS website instead of from the City of Appleton.

Last week from 06/26/2022 through 07/02/2022, Appleton recorded 82 confirmed cases and 34 probable cases for a total of 116. The DHS records are constantly being updated with numbers added to previous weeks. For example, last week’s numbers stood at 118 when I reported them, but have since been updated to 119. I have updated my charts to reflect the handful of cases that have been added to previous weeks. There were no new deaths reported last week, but there was one death added at some point between 03/18/2020 and 03/17/2021. That brings Appleton’s total number of deaths since the start of the pandemic to 161.

Outagamie, Winnebago, and Calumet counties are all in the “Low” Covid-19 Community Level as determined by the CDC’s metrics. That means that Appleton, which straddles those three counties, is in the “Low” category.

Appleton recorded its first case of coronavirus on 03/18/2020, so we are now on our third year of Covid tracking. The current 7-day running average of confirmed and probable cases is 16.57 as compared to 1.57 on this day last year, and 4.14 the year before. We had 116 total cases this last week, as compared to 11 on this week last year, and 35 the year before.

During the full 2021-22 cycle we had 63 total deaths with/from coronavirus as compared to 96 during the 2020-21 cycle. Right now, we have had 2 death since March 18, 2022, as compared to 3 deaths between March 18 and July 02 in 2021 and 3 in 2020.

At the end of the first-year cycle, the death rate for known cases of coronavirus was 1.20%. At the end of the second-year cycle, the death rate was down to 0.49%. Currently, in the third-year cycle from March 18 to July 02, the death rate for known cases of coronavirus is down to 0.13%.

There are currently 2 WI counties in the “High” level, 18 in the “Medium” level, and 52 counties in the “Low” level.

The fully vaccinated rates for the “High” counties range from 41.6% to 53.9%. The “Medium” counties range from 45.6% to 83.5%. The “Low” counties had fully vaccinated rates ranging from 35.8% to 81.3%.
