I have started pulling Covid case and death numbers from the Wisconsin DHS website instead of from the City of Appleton.
Last week from 06/19/2022 through 06/25/2022, Appleton recorded 106 confirmed cases and 12 probable cases for a total of 118. There were no new deaths reported last week, nor were any added to any of the previous weeks. Appleton’s total number of deaths since the start of the pandemic stands at 160.
Outagamie, Winnebago, and Calumet counties are all in the “Low” Covid-19 Community Level as determined by the CDC’s metrics. That means that Appleton, which straddles those three counties, is in the “Low” category.
Appleton recorded its first case of coronavirus on 03/18/2020, so we are now on our third year of Covid tracking. The current 7-day running average of confirmed and probable cases is 16.86 as compared to 0.71 on this day last year, and 3.14 the year before. We had 118 total cases this last week, as compared to 5 on this week last year, and 11 the year before.
During the full 2021-22 cycle we had 63 total deaths with/from coronavirus as compared to 95 during the 2020-21 cycle. Right now, we have had 2 death since March 18, 2022, as compared to 3 deaths between March 18 and June 25 in 2021 and 3 in 2020.
At the end of the first-year cycle, the death rate for known cases of coronavirus was 1.18%. At the end of the second-year cycle, the death rate was down to 0.49%. Currently, in the third-year cycle from March 18 to June 25, the death rate for known cases of coronavirus is down to 0.14%.
There are currently 5 WI counties in the “High” level, 24 in the “Medium” level, and 43 counties in the “Low” level.
The fully vaccinated rates for the “High” counties range from 41.5% to 62.3%. The “Medium” counties range from 35.8% to 83.4%. The “Low” counties had fully vaccinated rates ranging from 44.5% to 81.3%.
