I have started pulling Covid numbers from the Wisconsin DHS website instead of from the City of Appleton.
Last week from 05/22/2022 through 05/28/2022, Appleton recorded 85 confirmed cases and 32 probable cases for a total of 117. There were no new deaths reported last week, but there was one death added to the previous weeks bringing the total number of deaths with/from coronavirus in Appleton since the start of the pandemic is still 159.
Winnebago County currently has a Covid-19 Community Level of “Medium” as determined by the CDC’s metrics, which makes Appleton’s community level “Medium” also. Appleton has been at the “Medium” level for 4 weeks.
Appleton recorded it’s first case of coronavirus on 03/18/2020, so we are now on our third year of Covid tracking. The current 7-day running average of confirmed and probable cases is 16.71 as compared to 3.00 on this day last year, and 3.00 the year before.
During the full 2021-22 cycle we had 63 total deaths with/from coronavirus as compared to 94 during the 2020-21 cycle. Right now, we have had 1 death since March 18, 2022, as compared to 3 deaths between March 18 and May 28 in 2021 and 2 in 2020. [Those numbers are very close but off slightly because, due to technical difficulties, I haven’t been able to update my spreadsheet to 159 deaths yet.]
At the end of the first-year cycle, the death rate for known cases of coronavirus was 1.17%. At the end of the second-year cycle, the death rate was down to 0.49%. Currently, in the third-year cycle from March 18 to May 28, the death rate for known cases of coronavirus is down to 0.11%.
There are currently 10 WI counties in the “High” level, 24 in the “Medium” level, and 38 counties in the “Low” level.
The fully vaccinated rates for the “High” counties range from 53.9% to 67.9%. The “Medium” counties range from 34.7% to 79.0%. The “Low” counties had fully vaccinated rates ranging from 44.4% to 68.4%.
