Memorial Day weekend is almost here.
On Sunday May 29, there will be an Appleton Cemetery Veteran Salute Tour starting at Riverside Cemetery at 12PM noon and ending at St. Mary Cemetery at 2PM. The salutes will include the placing of a memorial wreath, the recital of a short prayer or tribute, a rifle volley, and the playing of Taps.

On Monday May 30, the Appleton Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony will take place. The parade will begin at 9AM. The route starts on the corner of College Avenue and Appleton Street and ends at the corner of Pacific Street and Owaissa Street.

The Appleton Memorial Day Parade provides our community with an opportunity to honor the service and sacrifice behind American rights and freedoms,” said Corey Otis, Appleton Parade Committee Chairperson. “Finally, we can come together again and collectively pay our proper respects to those who died while serving our country.”
The Appleton Memorial Day Parade annually pays tribute to servicemen and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice while serving in defense of the United States. This solemn event annually draws hundreds of participants and thousands of spectators to Appleton.”
Immediately following the parade the “Moment of Remembrance” ceremony will take place at Riverside Cemetery at the George D. Eggleston, G.A.R. monument.
