I have started pulling Covid numbers from the Wisconsin DHS website instead of from the City of Appleton.
Last week from 04/24/2022 through 04/30/2022, Appleton recorded 93 confirmed cases and 25 probable cases. There were no new deaths reported last week, and no deaths added to previous weeks either. The total number of deaths with/from coronavirus in Appleton since the start of the pandemic is still 158.
Appleton currently has a Covid-19 Community Level of “Low” as determined by the CDC’s metrics.
We’re now on our third year of Covid tracking. The current 7-day running average of confirmed and probable cases is 16.86 as compared to 6.14 on this day last year, and 2.29 the year before (there was obviously very little testing during the early days of the pandemic in 2020).
During the full 2021-22 cycle we had 63 total deaths with/from coronavirus as compared to 94 during the 2020-21 cycle. Right now, we have had 1 death since March 18, 2022, as compared to 1 death between March 18 and April 2 in 2021 and 0 in 2020.
At the end of the first-year cycle, the death rate for known cases of coronavirus was 1.17%. At the end of the second-year cycle, the death rate was down to 0.49%. Currently, in the third-year cycle from March 18 to April 30, the death rate for known cases of coronavirus is down to 0.25%.
There are currently 2 WI counties in the “High” level, 5 in the “Medium” level, and 65 counties in the “Low” level. The two “High” counties have fully vaccinated rates of 41.40% and 53.20%. The “Medium” counties had fully vaccinated rates ranging from 54.70% to 78.80%. The “Low” counties had fully vaccinated rates ranging from 34.6% to 77.7%.
