The City of Appleton is still soliciting community feedback on how it should spend the American Recovery Plan Act (ARPA) funding that it has received from the federal government.
According to the city website, ARPA funds can be spent on a number of things including:
- Public Health – Support public health expenditures by funding COVID-19 mitigation efforts, medical expenses, behavioral healthcare, and certain public health and safety staff.Â
- Economy – Address negative economic impacts caused by public health emergency, including: economic harm to workers, households, small businesses, impacted industries, and the public sector.Â
- Hardest Hit – Serve the hardest-hit communities and families by addressing health disparities and the social determinants of health, investing in housing and neighborhoods, addressing educational disparities and promoting healthy childhood environments.Â
- Public Sector – Replace lost public sector revenue, using this funding to provide government services to the extent of the reduction in revenue experienced due to the pandemic.Â
- Essential Workers –Â Provide premium pay for essential workers, offering additional support to those who have borne and will bear the greatest health risk because of their service in critical infrastructure sectors.Â
- Infrastructure – Invest in water, sewer, and broadband infrastructure, making necessary investments to improve access to clean drinking water, support vital wastewater and stormwater infrastructure, and to expand access to broadband internet.
You can provide feedback and suggest changes by using the budget simulator or by simply emailing the city directly at ARPA@appleton.org.
