Mayor Woodford Presents 5 Proclamations – Transit Equity Day, Career and Technical Education Month, Gun Violence Survivor Week, Burn Awareness Week, Black History Month

Mayor Woodford presented five mayoral proclamations at the 02/02/2022 Common Council meeting.

In the first he proclaimed January 28, 2022 Transit Equity Day in Appleton and encouraged “residents to recognize that equal access to reliable, affordable, and environmentally sound public transportation plays an important pat in reducing carbon emissions, remedying racial, economic, and other inequalities, and improving the social and economic wellbeing of all.”

With the second, he proclaimed February 2022 to be Career and Technical Education Month in Appleton and urged “all residents to become familiar with the services and benefits offered by the career and technical education programs in our community and to support and participate in these programs to enhance individual work skills and productivity.”

In the third he proclaimed February 1-7, 2022 to be Gun Violence survivor Week in Appleton and encouraged “all residents to raise awareness about gun violence, renew our commitment to reduce gun violence, keep firearms out of the wrong hands, and encourage responsible gun ownership.”

In the fourth, he proclaimed February 6-12 to be Burn Awareness Week in Appleton and encouraged “all resident[s] to become familiar with burn prevention and take appropriate steps to protect their families from burn injuries.”

With the fifth and final resolution, he proclaimed February 2022 to be Black History month in Appleton and encouraged “all residents to celebrate our diverse heritage and culture, learn about our history, and continue efforts to create a community that is more just, peaceful and prosperous for all.”
