On 01/11/2022 Appleton recorded 155 confirmed coronavirus cases and 73 probable cases. Active cases rose by 19 to 231 and cased out of isolation increased by 209 to 16,965. Deaths remained unchanged at 79.
The year over year trendline has clearly been affected by Omicron. The rise and fall of cases had tracked fairly decently year over year, until Omicron hit and now the 7-day running average of new confirmed and probably cases is now 216 points higher than it was on this day last year. Active cases and deaths, however, remain much lower. Appleton currently only has 213 active cases as compared to 748 on this day last year. Last year between March 18 (the day of Appleton’s first recorded case) and January 11, Appleton recorded 52 deaths with/from coronavirus whereas we have only recorded 16 such deaths during that same timeframe this year. The death rate of known cases is also much lower. Last year on this day based on cases and deaths from March 18 to January 11, the known case death rate had been 0.78% whereas this year it is only 0.18%.
