Over the holiday weekend, from 12/22 – 12/26, Appleton recorded 184 total confirmed cases and 99 probable cases. Active cases rose by 32 to 259. Cases out of isolation rose by 251 to 14,148. Deaths remained unchanged at 77.
Appleton’s current 7-day running average of confirmed cases is 36.86 as compared to 25.29 cases on this day last year. Our current 7-day running average of confirmed and probable cases combined is 54.57 as compared to 30.43 on this day last year. Appleton currently has 259 active cases as compared to 593 on this day last year. Last year between March 18 (the day of Appleton’s first recorded case) and December 26, Appleton recorded 51 deaths with/from coronavirus as compared to 14 such deaths during that same timeframe this year.
Last week Appleton recorded a total of 258 confirmed cases and 124 probable cases. The week before that we had 222 confirmed cases and 148 probable. That makes our 2-week burden per 100,000 residents to work out to 1,003 for confirmed and probable combined and 640 for confirmed cases only. 1,003 is just barely over the 1,000 threshold for the “critically high” burden rate, and 640 is in the “very high” burden category.
Since the start of the pandemic back in March of 2020, 19.31% of Appleton’s residents are known to have had a confirmed or probable case. Approximately 1/3 of 1% currently have an active case, and 0.1% have died with/from coronavirus. 80.69% of Appleton’s residents have yet to get a confirmed or probable case.
