Utilities Committee Meeting 12/07/2021 – Will Vote On Lead And Galvanized Water Service Line Replacement Code

The Utilities Committee is meeting 12/07/2021 at 5PM.

They have 4 action items on the agenda. The first of those items would update the Municipal Code by creating a new section regarding lead and galvanized water service line replacement. Amongst other things, this new section states, “As of the effective date of the ordinance from which this division is derived, no lead and/or galvanized service line will be allowed to connect to a Utility line once replaced.” It also states that, “Known existing lead and/or galvanized water service lines connected to the Utility shall be replaced with water service lines made of suitable material and at the owner’s expense. Replacement shall be completed within one year (365 days) of written notification by the Utility unless an exception is granted pursuant to section (f)(2) of this section.”

Two action items are requests to award 2022 stormwater consulting services contracts, and the final action item is a request to amend a 2020 stormwater consulting services contract by slightly more than $14,000.

The committee will also be receiving several information items including a report on some stormwater management services contracts and the regular monthly reports that the committee typically receives. Water main breaks in 2021 continue to outpace the water main breaks in 2020.
