It is day five of Arts In Education week. I thought that, since yesterday I highlighted the artwork of some of the art students at Lawrence University, perhaps today I woukd turn my attention to the artwork of the common man. The first picture is a work of art that I stumbled upon unexpectedly a couple weeks ago on the corner of Oneida and Olde Oneida. Truly it was an unexpected and delightful gem, well placed to elicit an appreciative response from the public.
The second is, unfortunately, no longer available for viewing, but it did grace the wall on Lawe Street underneath the Lawrence University foot bridge for many months. One artist had stenciled the words “There Is A Why? In You” on the wall after which another artist had come along, crossed out the word “Why?” and replaced in with the word “Dick”. Truly a bold and thought provoking statement. While this artistic work is gone, it will never truly be forgotten.
