The Appleton Area School District Board of Education is meeting 09/13/2021. They will be holding a Work Session at 4PM and then the actual Board meeting at 6PM.
During the work session they will be discussion proposed revisions to the annual work plan as well as working on their policies for (a) Treatment of Community Stakeholders, (b) Communicating With And Support For the Board, (c) Emergency Superintendent Succession, and (d) Personnel Administration.
The Emergency Superintendent Succession plan that the Board is currently working calls for the Superintendent to “designate at least one other executive staff member who is familiar with the Board’s governance process and issues of current concern and is capable of assuming Superintendent responsibilities on an emergency basis.” Elsewhere the document calls for the Superintendent to prepare a list of at least two people. I’ll be interested to see which administrative team members Superintendent Baseman places on her list.
During the Board meeting proper, the two newly appointed Board of Education members will be sworn in.
A couple items of interest on the agenda include the Superintendent’s Report which will provide an update on Covid-19 as well as a report on seclusion and physical restraint of students for the 2020-21 school year. Although school was not in-person for much of last year, they still had 102 incidents of seclusion involving 44 students and 42 incidents of physical restraint involving 26 students.
