On 08/30/2021 Appleton recorded 13 confirmed coronavirus cases and 11 probable cases. Active cases dropped by 42 to 180. Cases out of isolation increased by a whopping 66 to 9,302. Deaths remained unchanged at 65 for the 118th day in a row.
Appleton’s current 7-day running average of confirmed and probable cases is 24 as compared to a 7 day running average of 13.57 on this day last year. Of note is the fact that last year at this time, the health department was not reporting probable cases; they were only reporting confirmed cases. The current 7-day running average of confirmed cases only is 15.57 which is only 2 points higher than the 13.57 running average last year. We currently have 180 active cases as compared to 209 on this day last year. Deaths this year remain down sharply compared to last year. Last year between March 18 (the day of Appleton’s first recorded cases) and August 30, 8 Appleton residents died with/from coronavirus. This year during that same time frame we’ve only had 2 deaths, 25% of the deaths last year.
