Our current 7-day running average of new confirmed and probable cases is 21.57 as compared to 6.43 on this day last year. We currently have 188 active cases as compared to 181 last year. Deaths continue to remain markedly down. Last year between March 18 (the day of Appleton’s first recorded case) and August 25, Appleton recorded 8 deaths with/from Covid. This year, however, during that same time frame, Appleton has recorded only 2 deaths which is 1/4th of the deaths last year. That is in spite of recording approximately twice as many cases last year as compared to this year. Last year we had 8 deaths for 642 cases, which works out to a death rate of 1.25%. This year, we’ve had 2 deaths for 1,249 cases which works out to a death rate of 0.16%.
