On 07/22/2021 Appleton recorded 1 confirmed coronavirus case and 3 probable cases. Active cases rose by 4 to 27. Cases out of isolation remained unchanged at 8,808. Deaths remained unchanged at 65.
It has been 16 months since Appleton recorded its first case. I thought it would be interesting to compare this year’s numbers to last year’s numbers so I created some charts that run from March 18 (the date in 2020 when we recorded our first case) to March 17. As you can see, numbers are down markedly compared to last year. On June 22 of 2020 our 7-day running average of daily new cases was 8.7; in 2021 it’s down to 3.6. Last year we had 140 active cases on this day, vs only 27 this year. Last year between March 18 and July 22, Appleton recorded 5 deaths with/from coronavirus. This year during the same time period we have recorded only 2 deaths.
